The Internet Finance Association of China continuously provides risk alerts for some transactions. This time, after warning of ICO business risks, the Association warns investors against so-called “virtual currency” risks, such as Bitcoin.
Virtual currency has become a tool for criminal activity in violation of the law.
Xinhua reported yesterday that the Chinese Internet Finance Association had sent a reminder on 13 that so-called “virtual currencies”, such as Bitcoin, Latcoin and various forms of money, were being traded centrally on Internet platforms, that the number of people involved was growing and that the financial and social risks involved could not be ignored.
According to the Association, so-called “virtual currency”, such as Bitcoin, lacks a clear value base, market speculation is strong, prices are highly volatile, investors are blind and prone to financial losses, and investors need to be more risk-proof.
It is worth noting that so-called “virtual currency”, such as Bitcoin, is increasingly used as a tool for criminal activities, such as money-laundering, drug trafficking, smuggling and illegal fund-raising, and investors should be vigilant and should immediately report any leads they may find to criminal activities in violation of the law.
Various so-called “currency” trading platforms have no legal “identity”
The Association notes that investors are involved in speculative campaigns through so-called “virtual currency” trading platforms such as Bitcoin, that they are exposed to high price volatility, security risks, etc., and that platform technology risks are high, and that there have been multiple international hacking and thefts of trading platforms, with investors taking the risk of investing on their own.
Irregulars also often use trading platforms to obtain so-called “virtual currency” for related illegal activities, with greater legal risk that various types of so-called “currency” trading platforms are not legally established in our country.
The Association calls upon its members to refrain from engaging in or providing services for any centralized transactions related to the so-called “virtual currency”.
There's a lot of confusion about the virtual money exchange platform.
For example, Bitcoin, whose prices soared from $500 to $32350, and whose prices soared in the market, lacked a system of access for qualified investors. As a result of decentralization, transactions were difficult to monitor by the regulatory authorities and became a haven for money launderers and those who evaded foreign exchange controls.
It is worth noting that on August 30, the Association issued an ICO risk alert, and the Central Bank and seven other ministries banned ICO speculative financing on September 4th. The Association raised the risk of “virtual currency” such as Bitcoin, and whether “virtual currency” would follow the ICO.
