在弄懂以太坊和信标链的关系之前,我们先来了解以太坊和信标链相关概念。

Before understanding the relationship between Ether and the beacon chain, we came to understand the concepts associated with Ether and the beacon chain.

以太坊(ETH)是一个开源的有智能合约功能的公共区块链平台,通过其专用加密货币ETH提供去中心化的以太虚拟机(Ethereum Virtual Machine)来处理点对点合约。以太坊是一个合作运行的、全球性的、透明的数据库。通过共同努力,来自世界各地的参与者维护了以太坊地址的公共记录,其中包括用户帐户和智能合约应用程序。

Ether is an open-source, smart-contracting public block chain platform that provides decentralised Etherium Virtual Machine to handle point-to-point contracts through its dedicated encrypted currency ETH. Etherium is a collaborative, global and transparent database. By working together, participants from around the world maintain public records at Ether's addresses, including user accounts and smart contract applications.

智能合约是扩展以太坊功能的应用程序。当开发人员编写智能合约时,他们决定智能合约将支持哪些操作以及这些操作必须遵循哪些规则。从本质上讲,智能合约是任何人都可以部署到以太坊的开源应用程序。就像以太坊的其他部分一样,任何人都可以在任何地方查看和使用智能合约,而无需依赖中介。值得注意的是,与以太坊主网不同,信标链将不会处理交易和智能合约。

Smart contracts are applications that expand the Etherm function. When developers write smart contracts, they decide which operations they will support and which rules they must follow. In essence, smart contracts are open-source applications that anyone can deploy to Ether. Like the rest of Ether, anyone can view and use smart contracts anywhere without relying on intermediaries.

The beacon chain is a completely independent decentralised network that operates in parallel with the Etherm network. The beacon chain will eventually be merged with the main network by introducing PoS and the certifying officer in Ether. This is a new way to help maintain Ether's security. The mechanism can be seen as a public product that allows the Etherm to be healthier and more ETH in the process. The beacon chain is intended to support the transition from proof of workload to proof of interest, which is the first step needed to complete the thermization. (The therm merger is the planned upgrading of the therms network, which removes the workload from the consensus layer, and integrates the beacon chain of interest into the current therritor network.)

The beacon chain transition began in November 2020, when a one-way bridge began to transfer the workload proof chain to the equity proof chain and began to accept deposits. A month later, the beacon chain was activated and obtained millions of ETHs through multiple certifications. To date, the beacon chain has not experienced any downtime or network interruption. The Ethera merger eventually took place in Beijing on 15 September 2022, at 14:42:42, in block 15537393.

与以太坊主网不同的是,信标链将不会处理交易和智能合约,它将用于管理其质押者(Stakers)和分片链(Shard chains)来协调整个以太坊网络。

Pledge of Interests

Contrary to the workload proof mechanism (proof-of-work), which requires miners to compete for incentives on the basis of the computational capabilities they can acquire, the proof of entitlement mechanism (proof-of-stake) randomly selects the authenticator in relation to the total amount and time of their ETH pledge. The beacon chain will, to a large extent, coordinate the network of sub-prime and pledgeors. As the beacon chain is unable to run an intelligent contract or to process an account, the merger with the main network will bring this capability into the equity proof ecosystem.

The pledge is similar to mining, but is different in many ways. The latter requires substantial forward spending, in the form of powerful hardware and energy consumption, to generate economies of scale and promote centralization. The mining also does not require the locking of assets as collateral, which limits the ability of the agreement to punish the bad people after the attack. By contrast, the transition to proof of rights will make the Ether a safer and more centralized site. PoS certifyings do not need to dig blocks to maintain the network. Instead, they need to create new blocks when they choose, and to verify others when they do not. Once participants have tested the latest trade block, other contributors can prove that it is effective.

The communication between ETH and Beacon takes place through a communication engine method provided by ETH, starting with the generation of a public key of its own certifying officer (Pubkey) in Beacon, and sending a minimum ETH transaction to the Deposit Contract (Deposit Contracting), which is designated by Pubkey for itself. The communication engine is used by Beacon to listen to the Depositevent event log and interpret the ETH's deposits in the deposit contract, and then joins the list of certifying officers, and when the deposit reaches 32 ETH, Beacon activates the identity of the certifying officer of Pubkey, at which point a certifying officer is born.

The wallet address 0xa40-8703 was deposited into the 32 ETH to ETH2 deposit contract, followed by Beacon deconstructing the ETH's deposits on the deposit contract, which reached 32 ETH, and Beacon activated the Pubkey authenticator's identity. The ETH1 deposit to ETH2 was then completed. The current ETH2 deposit balance was 14,278,455 ETHs.

那么当遇到“存款高峰”时,Beacon链又该如何进行质押处理?

So what about the beacon chain when it comes to the “destination peak”?

在处理新增加的验证者时,会按照一定比例设置一个等待队列,这会限制同一时间可以增加的新的验证者数量,也能够防止一瞬间涌入的大批新的验证者对于网络安全和协议的影响,保证一定的稳定和安全性。正常情况下,存款达到32ETH时,间隔3-4小时就会激活,但是也不一定,有时候会好几天。

In dealing with the newer certifiers, a waiting queue will be set in proportion, which will limit the number of new certifiers that can be added at the same time, and will also prevent an instant influx of new certifiers from influencing network security and protocols, guaranteeing a certain degree of stability and security. Normally, deposits reach 32 ETH, with a 3-4 hour interval, but not necessarily a few days.

尽管成为验证者需要高超的技术知识和专业知识,但任何人只要满足 32 ETH 的最低要求就可以加入。无法达到这个门槛的人仍然可以通过在池中(由第三方管理)质押ETH来做出贡献并获得部分奖励。

Despite the high level of technical knowledge and expertise required to become a certifier, anyone who meets the minimum requirements of 32 ETH can join. A person who cannot reach this threshold can still contribute and receive a partial reward by pledging ETH in a pool (managed by a third party).

When a certifier is selected to verify the next block, he first verifies the validity of all transactions in the block. Once it is confirmed to be valid, the certifier will enter the block on the block chain to update the state of the block chain. Subsequently, this information will be confirmed by a “commission” of 128 other certifiers, known as “Attestation.” If the block is successfully signed, the initial certifier will receive a pledge incentive, usually the sum of all proven transaction costs in the block.

Finally, let us sum up the relationship between ETH and the beacon chain: In short, after the Etherno merger, ETH is primarily responsible for dealing and running smart contracts, while the Beacon chain is responsible for pledging, reaching consensus, and completing the explosion. The two sides complete the transfer of ETH1 to ETH2.
