According to a statement released this Monday, the Virtual Commodity Association, created by the co-founders of Gemini Trust, Cameron Winklevos and Tyler Winklevos, expanded the list of exchange participants, including Bitstamp, BitFlyer USA and Bittrex. Representatives from four markets will meet for the first time in September to discuss the establishment of self-regulatory organizations.

The Virtual Commodity Association aims to set industry standards, increase transparency, and work with regulators, including the United States Commodity Futures Trading Commission (cftc), to prevent fraud and manipulation in digital asset markets such as Bitcoin. The organization appoints Maria Filipakis as an ad hoc executive director on Monday. She worked in the financial services sector in New York, where she helped create the State’s encrypted currency licence, BitLicence.

They were trying to enforce law enforcement on their own exchanges, at least on their own, and Gemini Trust had hired Nasdaq Inc. to oversee their markets earlier this year.
